My roommate Jocelyn and I got assigned to the ninth floor of the Cheng-Yeh Dormitory. The building is co-ed as a whole but there are separate towers for boys and girls. We are not allowed to go up the tower of the opposite gender, and there’s a security guard watching the elevators to make sure no one cheats.
Jocelyn majors in Engineering at Colorado State University. I missed having a roommate! (I’ve been living in a single ever since I became a Resident Assistant last year). Our room is huge!
We have a giant double desk.
We have beds.
This is mine.
Look closely and you can tell that it has a wooden base. I actually prefer sleeping on a hard bed, so it’s been a good change. Especially for my posture. I just have to remember that I can’t jump into it like the spring mattress beds at home. I made that mistake on the first day.. hasn’t happened since. Instead of spring mattresses, we were provided with bamboo pads. They have a bamboo backing and a thick layer of foam.
We have a shower.
And a toilet.
And closet space.

And a sink. With lots of cabinet space. (The shower is around that corner, just to give you some context as to the size of our room.)
We also have a balcony. God, we are lucky. Say hello to beautiful Tainan.
And we have a refrigerator. And airconditioning. But we only turn on the air conditioning when we’re in the room. Compared to the doubles American universities get away with, this is a hotel, a luxury.

So…just based on the first paragraph, I’ve determined that you’re actually in Gryffindor Tower. Except, you know, with electricity instead of magic. And a security guard instead of…more magic.
